About Panchakarma

Panchakarma, as the name implies, is a powerful combination of five rejuvenating and purifying treatments. Panchakarma is recommended by Ayurveda as a seasonal therapy for preserving mental and bodily hygiene and balance. Panchakarma is a five-fold therapy that is highly customised to the requirements of the person based on Ayurvedic constitutional type, Doshic imbalances, age, digestive strength, immunological health, and a variety of other parameters.

Panchakarma is conducted in three stages, each of which guides the body through a series of treatments.

  • Purvakarma is the initial step, in which Snehana (Oleation treatment) and induced severe sweating are used to release excess doshas and toxins collected in the body.
  • Pradhanakarma, a specialist therapy, is delivered during the actual treatment to eliminate impurities and invigorate the system.
  • Paschatkarma is the final step, in which a rehabilitation plan involving nutrition, rest, and lifestyle changes is given to avoid illness recurrence. This after-treatment care distinguishes Ayurveda from other branches of medicine.
